Bangaram Island Resort-Lakshadweep |
There are many things missing from this island in
the Lakshadweep. People, for one. But to compensate,
you'll get swaying palms, crystal waters and some of
the best diving in the world.
Isles in the deep
Bangaram's distinctive teardrop shape is
evident in this picture, as are the miles of reefs
that surround it, home to a unique biosphere.
The inspiration for our accommodations at Bangaram
turned out to be right next door. In the fisherfolks'
huts of the Lakshadweep, we found a dwelling that
was pleasant, airy and made ingenious use of natural
materials.
We kept the basic design, but added modern plumbing,
real beds and so forth.
